'Beautiful' upcoming award ceremony

After being notified that 'Beautiful Women Wake Up Early' has won Best Experimental Short at the New York international Film Festival-LA edition, now there will be a award ceremony in January 2013. Very cool.

Scripts on Fire!

The latest scripts that I've been working on is a heist story titled 'The Last Heist'. Some of my favorite heist movies are Michael Mann's Heat, Steven Soderberg's 'Out of Sight', F. Gary's 'Set it Off', and the old and new 'Ocean's Eleven'. These movies have left a lasting impression on me. So while writing this feature length script subconsciously I guess I'm going back to these films and more that I've watched about a robberies. But along the way the story becomes bigger than the robbery, it boils down to relationships. To write on a genre that has a big fan base and try to keep the story interesting with fascinating characters is a challenge because as a writer you wonder how can the robbery be different from the other robberies that have been depicted on screen. The script is coming along well. And the ending is well....explosive!

Another script that I'm looking forward to writing has a working title, 'Millenium Woman', it's about a young woman who sells prescription drugs to high schoolers. She developes a relationship with one of the teenagers and from there twist and turns occur based on obsession, dependence, shame, guilt, jealousy, envy...its all there and then some. I want it to be fast, sad, funny, sexy, but it'll be a exploration in these teenagers dependency on these drugs that are ruining their lives and the passive woman who sells it to them.

'Enigma' is another script that I'm very excited about, in which I wrote out of frustration during hurricane Sandy. Its about young rich men and women and how a group of them live and how the leader of the pack faces some questions and concerns in her life that challenges her relationships and her future.

These are just some of the stories I've been working on.

A complete 'Moon'

The script for 'At the Moons Edge' is finished...for now. Right now it's in the hands of a producer. If she decides to pick it up then we proceed to a finalized budget and begin casting, location scouting, etc...
Its defiantely a feature length script, and it's a psychological family drama with dream sequences and emotionally draining scenes that will keep the audience totally engaged.

Thanks to Diana Budur, who did a splendid job depicting such high drama on the page.

'Beautiful' stay in LA-Screening

The LA screening for 'Beautiful Women Wake Up Early' was a lot of fun. Thank you to all that attended. There were many people that attended. The crowds' reaction to the movie was good. I had the privilege of meeting several directors, actors, and producers. The weather was great, very hot (99-100). I ate in Beverly Hills (Sharky's on Beverly Rd.), Artisan House (downtown LA on Main St.), bought delicious spicy sandwiches and Sushi at 'Marty's also on Main St., downtown LA. Really good food and nice people all around. I'm looking forward to returning to LA...to get my Oscar :-).

Web Boom

I've writing a web series entitled 'I Love Everything I Do Today'. Its broken up into three series', the first one is about a rich european family, told from the point of view of the older daughter Nika, who is  addicted to buying shoes. Everyone in the family is addicted to something. And then Nika's younger sister arrives for the summer and she soon finds out what her younger sister's secret is which turns out to be an advantage and disadvantage to the family and to herself.

Web series is a booming phenomenon, the writing process for it has been exciting.

Sealed & Ready

After one year and a month 'Beautiful Women Wake Up Early' has found completion under the hands of Angelita Ali. At 21 minutes, an ensemble cast, with a lovely symphony attached to it, the movie will be submitted to various film festivals.  A teaser trailer will be released soon as well as the '5 Days of Bliss' making-of-documentary.

Everyone on the team, cast and crew, did a great job and it shows in every frame in the movie. Nine months without an editor until last month.  Its now been sealed and ready to go!

Stitching...

After nine months on the shelf, 'Beautiful Women Wake Up Early' has finally been picked up again. For the past 3 weeks or so it has been going through the cutting process. Angelita, senior editor at NYCastings, has been contributing her effortless skills to the movie. What is to become of this movie the world will see soon as it takes on the film festival circuit beginning next month!

The movie is actually longer than I expected, but thats okay, because it's possibly the strongest piece of work I've directed.

Update...

The latest news is that I'm writing two feature length scripts 'The Last Canvas' & 'A Thousand Kisses Before Death', which was going to be at first a short, but the plot has been expanded. The former is about a popular older male painter who is facing some serious family drama while trying to stay afloat in the contemporary art world. The latter has turned into a epic coming-of-age tale, told from a young girls' point of view. It's a romantic drama.
